Moon Doggie LO - Alan, Grammy and Gramps CTMH Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Good grief.....I haven't posted since Sunday! Where does the time fly? I have been quite busy at work this week, which seems to translate into exhaustion in the evening - ha! Can you relate? I'm sure you can.

I love this picture of Alan and my parents. He was just a babe in arms, about a year old. We lived in Charleston (SC) and spent a lot of time on the road visiting my family here (home in Florida). We finally moved back to Florida when he was four years old, but in the meantime I was trying to make the marriage last. Well, I guess I didn't try hard enough. So here we are twenty years later.

Does this white-haired tot look like a future astrophysicist? Click on the photo to see it larger - he is so precious! I know that you also have certain photos that just make your heart sing. This is one of those photos for me. Of course he is only wearing a diaper. He would strip at the drop of a hat. If he reads this, he will killlllll me! But I remember one such event rather clearly. He was not more than 2 or 3 years old. My mom and my sister Jeannie had driven up to see 'the baby' for a few days. Alan was the first grandchild (of only two - I did my part!). So we decided to go shopping. Now I can't remember the name of the store...it was one of those Walmart impersonators - sort of like the Bealls we have now here in Florida.

Well. it must have been a particularly hot day. Or perhaps Alan had just had enough shopping with three grown women. Can you blame him? Well, whatever the reason.....we were walking down the aisle, looking at 'stuff', pushing a cart (to carry our purses, of course!).....when all of a sudden, Alan stops drops his shorts and promptly begins trying to pull them off over his little tennis shoes (a side note - do you call them sneakers, tennis shoes.....what else???). Before we could stop him....RIP! Off comes the diaper! This is why they made velcro disposble diapers, right? So that our babies can embarrass us in the middle of the store! Good grief!

Well, you have to laugh. And we had a good laugh, even at the time. I always said that he was good for hours of free entertainment. And he still is. He can be so silly sometimes. I just love that kid!

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge Card Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Welcome back! Well, it's Mojo Monday! I have to tell you that my mojo is pretty burnt out today - tee hee! I made so many cards this weekend....well, it's not the quantity, really, but the amount of time I spent making them! It was very satisfying, but at the same time, I am worn out tonight. I couldn't get to sleep till 5 a.m., and up for work at 7:15! Yes, I know......maybe if I hadn't gone to bed at 4 a.m. the last two nights.....tee hee!

Well, this is my card for today's Mojo Monday sketch. With no mojo in my soul, I decided to test the CTMH motto of "faster, simpler, easier!" and use my products to accomplish this goal. Success!!! No stamping, very little cutting. I used our Journey Journaling Spots for the three elements on the front, then the All-Out Adventure Rub-Ons for the compass image and the two words on the Journaling Spots (just $2.95 for 36 images!). Talk about fast, simple and easy! It took me more time to think about it than to do it! WOOhooooOOOO!

Speaking of rub-ons. We have three different styles. Each style comes in a package of three sheets - identical except for the color. You get a sheet of white, black and chocolate. And they truly rock! They rub on very smoothly without that nasty shadow around them. I have rediscovered them. They work super on acrylic, too!

Good grief - we had some heart-stopping thunder this afternoon! The electricity went out twice - then BOOM!!!! It came right back on, but needless to say....no shuttle launch today! These summer afternoon thunderstorms have been nonstop. What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Hibiscus, Brownies and Skinny People - Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

How are y'all today? I am just about finished baking for my big Open House/Open Crop tomorrow. I cannot wait - I just love doing this! We have a blast. It's so great to see all (well most of) my scrappin' buddies all together having a good time.

Here's a simple little card I made for my first card class. You may recall the poll over in the right column (it's still there; guess I should take it down). Y'all voted on both the card class and Scrapbookin' for Dummies, so I 'did up' both for the Open House! For those of you not in Melbourne, Florida, I will be offering kits. I'll post photos this weekend after I recover from the festivities. tee hee!

What makes this card special to me is the hibiscus. We have a gazillion different species of this beautiful flower here in Florida. But there's no reason you can't make up your own if you own this rockin' new CTMH stamp set - "Extreme Happiness". You can buy it on my website here.

I stamped it with Cranberry Ink. I 'rubbed in' some Baby Pink ink towards the center of each petal - can you tell? Then I took a Cranberry marker and brushed the petal edges to deepen the color. Then my favorite part - I used Goldrush Sassy Strands as the stamen! Did you know that our Sassy Strands went down in price in the new Summer book? Yessiirrreeee~! WOOHOOO!!! The paper packed, "Moon Doggie" is brand new. I'm surmising that a bunch of Florida gals will be buying this one - it's so cool!!!

Well. About the brownies. Over the past two nights I have baked pumpkin bread, lemon bars, chocolate chip cookies and brownies. All from boxes, mind you. Hey, I have a full-time job, after all, besides all this bloggin' and scrappin'! Anyway.....did you know that brownies really do cut better when they are cool? Yes, I realize that the directions say "Cool completely in pan before slicing." Well, hello! Who waits for them to cool? Probably skinny people. I am convinced that they just don't have that craving that us "well-endowed" gals do. They probably wait for the brownies to cool. Well, gals, we will have cool brownies at the Open House. And pumpkin bread. And chocolate chip cookies. And lemon bars. And meatballs. And veggies (thanks, Rindy!) And lots of croppin' fun!
