CTMH Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! CTMH Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Welcome to Close to My Heart's monthly Stamp of the Month (SOTM) Blog Hop! Woohoo!!! This time there are over 60 gals participating with dozens and dozens of great ideas to use September's Stamp of the Month, "Treasures".

I really love these silhouette stamps. You can dress them up with embossing, use them with first- or second-generation stamping to create your own B&T (background and texture paper)....the possibilites are endless!

This time I decided to pull out the old heat gun and emboss the largest image from the set with White Embossing Powder. In fact, I used a lot of different techniques and products to make this page of my baby! HA! If you are a reader of my blog, you are aware that my baby is now 21 years old. tee hee. Well, I have just started scrapbooking, so I have a lot to catch up on!

This layout is my own design using HeartFelt(R) Whimsy Die-Cuts (LOVE them)! The Buttercup frames as well as the cute little bug (Dragonfly? Butterfly? Plain ol fly?) are from these Die-Cuts. It is hard for me to refrain from using them on everything!

Here's a closeup of the embossed flower (dandelion? Good grief, I am brain-dead tonight!). There are several different sizes in the set, as well as the precious sentiment that I have inset into one of the new Dimensional Elements brackets (inked with Pansy Purple).

Now, here's a closeup of my baby!!! I did some edge distressing on the photo mats, added some hemp (I've gone through so much lately!) and gave the bug a pair of Colonial White Waxy Flax antennae. Remember, you can click on any of the photos to get a larger view.

Now, who would have thought that a frilly, girly girl paper like Bella would work with a little boy photo? I really liked the whimsical feel as an accent to the fly-away feel of the stamped image. I think it works!

Have you looked at the brand new Winter 2009 Idea Book yet? It went active today, September 1! Check out your consultant's website to view it, or see it here. Want to own this Stamp of the Month yourself? Ask your consultant how, or e-mail me for details!

Now, hop on over to my friend Nancy's blog for some more ideas on using "Treasures"! See you tomorrow,

Deb

Steampunk Sarah Covered Notepad Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Happy Sunday!

Well, I tried my hand at coloring again, but I'm no expert. That being said, it's still a lot of fun. Coloring this cute Steampunk Sarah image from Artful Inkables took me back to the days of coloring books and paper dolls. I used to loooove to play with my paper dolls. As a matter of fact, I was tempted to make paper doll clothes for Steampunk Sarah! How silly is that ;-) I wonder if they still make paper dolls. Does anyone know?

I needed a small gift for my upcoming open house. I had purchased several of these small notepads (5" tall) but needed more for the Open House. So I took them to Office Depot and had them cut in half vertically. Now how cute that pile of tiny note pads is! How is it we are enamored with miniature things. Ha.

I used papers from "Tickled Pink", CTMH's special kit from the spring. I have been hoarding it. This inside view shows how I made a little pocket to hold tickets, receipts, etc.

Now, how do you like Sarah's cute outfit? She is one stylin' girl! I used a gel pen on her buttons (boots and gloves). See the tiny sparkle earrings? Real diamonds, for sure. HA!

I have another card I've made from this super cool stamp set . My "official" AI INKgirl posting day is Sunday, so you can look forward to AI creations each weekend. I got a sneak peek of the new September releases.....and let me tell you, my mind is spinning with ideas!!!!

I will save you from my random ramblings as I am too pooped to last much longer. A nice soft bed is calling my name!

Sweet dreams,

Deb

Moon Doggie LO - Alan, Grammy and Gramps CTMH Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Good grief.....I haven't posted since Sunday! Where does the time fly? I have been quite busy at work this week, which seems to translate into exhaustion in the evening - ha! Can you relate? I'm sure you can.
I love this picture of Alan and my parents. He was just a babe in arms, about a year old. We lived in Charleston (SC) and spent a lot of time on the road visiting my family here (home in Florida). We finally moved back to Florida when he was four years old, but in the meantime I was trying to make the marriage last. Well, I guess I didn't try hard enough. So here we are twenty years later.
Does this white-haired tot look like a future astrophysicist? Click on the photo to see it larger - he is so precious! I know that you also have certain photos that just make your heart sing. This is one of those photos for me. Of course he is only wearing a diaper. He would strip at the drop of a hat. If he reads this, he will killlllll me! But I remember one such event rather clearly. He was not more than 2 or 3 years old. My mom and my sister Jeannie had driven up to see 'the baby' for a few days. Alan was the first grandchild (of only two - I did my part!). So we decided to go shopping. Now I can't remember the name of the store...it was one of those Walmart impersonators - sort of like the Bealls we have now here in Florida.
Well. it must have been a particularly hot day. Or perhaps Alan had just had enough shopping with three grown women. Can you blame him? Well, whatever the reason.....we were walking down the aisle, looking at 'stuff', pushing a cart (to carry our purses, of course!).....when all of a sudden, Alan stops drops his shorts and promptly begins trying to pull them off over his little tennis shoes (a side note - do you call them sneakers, tennis shoes.....what else???). Before we could stop him....RIP! Off comes the diaper! This is why they made velcro disposble diapers, right? So that our babies can embarrass us in the middle of the store! Good grief!
Well, you have to laugh. And we had a good laugh, even at the time. I always said that he was good for hours of free entertainment. And he still is. He can be so silly sometimes. I just love that kid!
RECIPE:
Paper: Moon Doggie Paper Packet, Sorbet , Indian Corn Blue and Tulip CS (CTMH)
Other: Heartfelt Die-Cuts, Journaling Spots

Card Kit (free???) and a sneak peek! CTMH Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Happy Tuesday! Can you tell that I am typing this on my new computer? tee hee. I tell you, last week I had this odd feeling that my home computer was about to give up the ghost. So I went to Wally-World last week and bought an external hard drive and back up the whole darned thing. I should have done that a looooong time ago! Then I called my brilliant son and asked him to find a deal for me. So he did! And today I am typing on an uber-cool laptop. Yep, it's sittin' on my lap as we speak!!! I finally figured out how to transfer my files, but not my internet favorites. So if you're not seeing my comments on your blog, it's because I have to find you again!!!

Now, look at this cute, CUTE card kit!!! Close To My Heart is so great at offering great product deals. This kit, "Everyday Celebrations", gives you 16 card bases (look at the cute curved die-cut on the front) and envelopes, two mini-inks, a big ol' bunch of Chocolate Mini-Medleys, ribbon, paper, cardstock and - the best part - a full-color brochure with cutting instructions to make 16 cards (two each of eight different cards)!!! This cool paper is great for those guy/boy cards everyone always has problems with. But wait - there's more! ha

Look at the cute cards I made with our new (to be released September 1!) papers and the card kit patterns! Woohooo!!!!

The cards on the right are the cards from the Everyday Celebrations kit. The cards on the left are quick cards that I made using the same patterns, but different paper!!!!
How cute is the sofa stamp! And the little felt leaf! And Ms. Holiday Cheer! woooHOOO!!!! You will die when you see the new book September 1. I cannot wait to show it to you!
You may order the card kit while supplies last via my website. It's $39.95, or FREE if you order $60 in stamps!!! It's also FREE if you sign up to join my team in September! It's also FREE if you host a gathering with $400 in sales! wooHOOO!!!! e-mail me for details or get the scoop here.

Artful Inkables Black, White, Red Layout Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Happy Sunday! Sunday is my official posting day for the Artful Inkables Design Team. And this is my first challenge post!

We will each be hosting a Think INK Tuesday challenge during our DT term. This layout is designed with Joy's Black, White and Red challenge in mind. Now, how can you go wrong with Black, White and Red???
I am so excited about this layout. It is a totally new style for me, and I am lovin' it! Wheras most of my scrapbook pages in the past have been structured and sort of 'square', I 'felt' (pun intended....I kill myself!!! HA!) inspired by CTMH's HeartFELT (HA!) die cuts to go with the flow and move into a new era of scrapbooking fun! I have to tell you, I was so tempted to line up all of the cardstock, make the sizes the same, etc. I suppose I could have gone a little more nut-so, but this is a first step!

I'm highligting Artful Inkable's cute, cute, CUTE new stampset, Fun & Friendly. Wait till you see it here! Every two weeks one of the Design Team members will host a challenge of their choice. Each INKgirl will present their take on the challenge (this is mine), but you get to play along! You'll have two full weeks to complete the challenge and add your link to the home post over on the Artful INKables Blog to have your entry counted!
Now. Here's a closeup of the stamped image. It reads "True friends leave footprints on your heart". Now, how precious is that! Think of all the uses - scrapbooking, cards, gift tags, labels for homemade goodies.......I thought it was perfect for this old, old photo of my sister's birthday party back in Wise, Virginia. I am the short, fat one (still am...tee hee), second from the right as you look at the photo. Teresa is four and-a-half years older than me. I have no clue who any of those girls are. Wouldn't it be cool if one of them was a crafter and followed my blog, saw her picture and jumped around and screamed? How cool would that be? I won't hold my breath - HA!
RECIPE:

Stamps: Fun & Friendly (Artful Inkables)

Paper: Silhouette My Reflections, Tulip, Black and White Daisy CS (CTMH)

Ink: Black (CTMH), White Souffle Pen (Sakura)

Other: Heartfelt(TM) Whimsy Die-Cuts, Just Blooms Big Blooms, Black Bigger Brads (CTMH), Threading Water Border Punch (Fiskars)

So head on over to the Artful INKables Blog for the scoop and a chance to win! You are not required to use AI stamps, but gosh....why wouldn't ya! You have until Monday, August 31, midnight Pacific Standard Time to link your creation. A winner will be chosen Tuesday, September 1, 2009 to win a GRAB BAG of AI STAMPS!
Good luck, and have fun!

BOOOO! Happy Halloween-y with chocolate! CTMH Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

BOOO! Are you thinking Halloween yet? Heck, I know it's a little early, but I received the cutest stamp set, Beware, in my CTMH Leadership bundle. So I tried to be 'artsy' and sneak in the stamp set in my photo collage. Good grief. Hopefully practice will make perfect, 'cause it's obvious I'm not there yet - HA!

Anyway, I don't know if I've told you this before, but copper is my metal of choice. I just love, LOVE copper! Because of my lack of photo skills (I'm channeling Napoleon Dynamite here - photo skills, drawing skills, Ninja skills....tee hee), it's hard to see that my popped-up bat is covered with Martha Stewart's copper glitter! I did take a close-up photo, but it's so out-of-focus.....I just couldn't do that to y'all.

So I decided to free-hand the big ol' black bat on the bag topper. I channeled my kitty's ears for the bat ears. Plus, what better post to sneak in a picture of my princess - a black cat for a Halloween post!

Halloween in Florida was sooo much fun when I was a kid! It seemed like we would have our first 'cool' night on Halloween, magically transforming summer into fall!

We never had store-bought costumes. As a matter of fact, I do not recall a single year when I dressed as anything other than 'a hobo'. It was our specialty. Now that I think about it, I wonder where my mom came up with those flannel plaid shirts. Surely I don't recall my dad ever wearing one - it's hot here, hello! Hmmmm. I will have to ask her!

Anyway, we would drag along a big ol' pillowcase to hold our stash. And what a stash it was! This was 'back in the day', before the razor-blade-in-the-apple scare.....when you could trust all your neighbors, whether you knew them or not. Good grief, we came home with so much candy. I had the most fun with my brother Sonny. He is five years younger than me, but we connected. Hmmm.....where did we get the black makeup for the dirt on our faces....my mom didn't wear a stitch of makeup! This is bringing up a lot of questions, indeed!

My favorite candy was Butterfingers. And 3 Musketeers. Well, and Peanut Butter Cups. Oh heck, anything chocolate!!! There would be a lot of kids in the nurse's office at school the next day - belly aches! tee hee

How 'bout you? Did you have a fancy store-bought costume, or were you also a poor little hobo? What was your favorite candy? Is the candy in my photo still in the bag? Uh.......I plead the fifth!!!

Sweet Dreams,

Deb

The last of the three cards CTMH Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Here's the last of the three 'loser' cards that I made for the Leadership conference contest. I used the chalk popping technique, which I had never before done. It was fun! I used Colonial White cardstock for the stars stamped with Versamark, then added the purple and pink chalks. Now, if I took better photos, you could tell that I stamped the background with polkie dots, plus a cute scalloped border. White CTMH rub-ons on a little transparency trip. Fun, fun, fun!

Alan is leaving tonight to go home for college so we are both morose. There is also a tropical storm heading this way, which I am trying to ignore. I'm convinced that if I ignore this one, it will go away. tee hee

Meanwhile, the wheels are turning and packages are arriving for my September Open House. I just can't WAIT!!!!!

Sweet dreams,

Deb

Another Loser Card and a Sneak Peek CTMH Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Hey hey hey! My antibiotics are kicking in and I only feel half-dead now. tee hee hee. Here's the second of the three cards that I submitted for the Leadership contest.

I didn't take a very good photo - sorry!!! The "trim" on the right is actually inside the card. The two hearts at the bottom are clear 'ghost' shapes backed with stamped cardstock. The sentiment is topped with a window charm. It's very pretty IRL!
Now.....remember my announcement last month about being selected to the AI (Artful Inkables ) Design Team? Well, well, well! We are having a blog hop this Saturday, August 15! Three new stamp sets will be introduced. Here's a sneak peek from Kristin, our fantastic artist, creator and owner! She is also a much better color-er than I am, a fact that will become apparent as we hop along this weekend. Ha!!! Is this sneak peek tiny enough for ya? tee hee.
Enjoy your evening. It looks like it's about to pour here in Florida. What's new for an August evening in Florida....you know what I mean?

Top Five Place at Leadership CTMH Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Hey y'all!!! I'd like to say that I'm back in the saddle again, but ugh. Still feel and sound a bit crappy. But better than my poor sweet mom...she went in the hospital this morning!!! She has bronchitis (no, I did not give it to her...tee hee) and is getting IV antibiotics. God love. When it rains it pours. I just hope she bounces back quickly and gets to come home tomorrow!

So......remember my non-winning cards from Leadership Conference? Well, here are my non-winning placecards and napkin rings - ha! We were challenged to make a gift item for less than a dollar. So I bought some super-cheap ponytail holders (yes, I have a ponytail), CTMH's rockin' stamp set "Extreme Happiness: (hibiscus and border) and some pretty, pretty cardstock. I was selected to be in the top 5, so that rocked, right???? "It's an honor to be selected" (in my best beauty-queen voice.

No stories tonight (although I am saving up some)....gotta call my mommy ;-)

Sweet dreams,

Deb

Not every card is a winner!!!! CTMH Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Greetings! No, I am not dead. tee hee. But Alan and I have been sick ever since I came home from Long Beach. I attribute it to the croopy elderly lady in the wheelchair who was sitting at the gate coughing up a lung. The other passengers were giving each other scary glances (including me). Sure enough, I have the worst sore throat and crappy heat....well, you know what I mean. And my poor baby does not feel well, either. Even Target (kitty kitty) is sneezing! Good grief.

Well, here is one of the three cards that I submitted for the card contest at Leadership. We had to use the same pattern ('Top Band' from Wishes) for all three cards. I wish you could see the cards that were selected for the top five. They were incredible!!! Some of them were the most creative, cute cards I had ever seen. And I have seen a lot of cards on the www!

I will save you from my nonsensical ramblings since my brain and fingers are not in sync.

Cheers,

Verve Stamps Two-Year Anniversary Blog Hop! Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Welcome to the first ever official Anni-VERVE-sary Blog Hop. woooHOOO!!! Verve turns two today and we’re celebrating with a hop, hop, hop! If you have not yet seen Julee's incredible stamps and artwork, check her out here!

If you're here for Close To My Heart's August Stamp of the Month blog, scroll down to the next post after you finish this one!

The party kicked off over on the Verve blog, so if you started here, be sure to hop on over there to start from the beginning! And guess what! There’s a mystery jackpot hidden at one of the stops along the hop. One lucky commenter on that blog (it could be you!) will win Verve’s entire August release! You can be sure I'll be commenting!!! But of course, it wouldn’t be a mystery if you knew which blog, would it? So if you’re feeling the love, give a little shout out to each of bloggers in the hop and you just might have a reason to jump for joy!
Now, grab a Diet Dr. Pepper and some chocolate and settle in for the ride!

Here's a card I made with Verve's stamp set "Beautiful You". There are several lovely sentiments here that you can use either inside or on the outside of cards. They are also nice to use on scrapbook layouts! It also includes the flower that I 'colored' on my MojoMonday97 card.

RECIPE:

Stamps: Beautiful You (Verve)

Ink: Twilight (CTMH)

Paper: Emporium B&T, Cocoa Cardstock, Buttercup Cardstock (CTMH), K&Company

Other: Big Pinks Just Blooms, Sparkles, Organdy Ribbon (CTMH), Button (Foo la la)

Then, 'cause I just had to, I made an anniversary card for Verve! It's pretty dorky, relaly it is, but I had to lay it out so that I could include both the woodchuck (groundhog? cute little animal) and the birdie! This is a really cute DCWV paper pack. Of course, I cannot remember the name and I am at CTMH Leadership in Long Beach, so leave me a note if you want and I'll find it when I get home. I could call Alan and ask him, but a guy in a scrapbook room......ugh.
Well, thanks for stopping by! Now it’s time to hop on over to Lisabee’s blog, for a little more Verve-y goodness!
Have a great day!

CTMH's August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!!! CTMH Scrapbooking in Melbourne, Florida

Welcome to CTMH's August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! Today I'm featuring August's Stamp of the Month (SOTM),which is "It's Your Day", a set of 24 rockin' stamps!

If you have come here from Carla's blog, you are on the right path! If this is your first stop, you may want to goback to Jena's blog and start from the beginning!

This month we have 64 (yowza!) Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one. But it might take a couple of days with 64 consultants - tee hee!

I used CTMH's "Animal Cookies" Creative Basic Paper Pack for my card. But I didn't stop there - I used the stamps and inks to make my own paper, too!

See the paper that I made in the background, behind the card? I simply random stamped plain white paper using the stamps from "It's Your Day" and the same colors in the "Animal Cookies" paper - Dutch Blue, Tulip, Sunflower and Clover Meadow. It was fun and easy!

Here's a closeup detail from the card. I used the "Top Band" pattern from Jeanette Lynton's new card book "Wishes" - quick, simple and easy! But let's go over the top.....

Go ahead and random stamp another piece of white paper, cut it into strips. Loop some of those strips together to make a bow for your gift! Curl some thinner strips with scissors to make curly confetti! Too cool, right???? I may never buy gift wrap and bows again...woohoooOOOOO!

Here's another card I made with Sunflower and Orange. I have to tell you that I have had my Orange stamp pad for two years August 3 and I had never used it. What was I thinking? It is so vibrant and fresh. This project really brought me out of my vintage shell. I had a blast! This stamp set is really versatile - surprisingly so! Ask me how you can earn it FREE!
Now hop on over to Alanna's blog to see her work! Be sure to to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas!Remember, the August SOTM is only available until August 31! Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to see how you can get this stamp set at a discount or even free!
